DotD is like Charlie Sheen… WINNING!

by Barnabus Bogwater on March 10, 2011

In the third annual Dead Letter Awards presented by Mail Order Zombie, Death of the Dead was nominated in 6 categories; Best Screenplay (Bo Buckley), Best Actor (Jack Abele), Best Actress (Christina Rose), Best One-Liner (It’s your ass, if you want to get it kicked, who am I to stop you?), Best Director (Gary King) and Best Picture (Bo Buckley and Justin Soponis producers).

While it’s great just to be nominated, winning is so much cooler. But, as they say, you can’t win ’em all. Well you can and critics would say we SHOULD have won them all, but then the awards would look like they were rigged and MOZ would lose credibility and all that stuff. SO, as I said, you can’t win ’em all. And we didn’t. But the film won in two categories:

Best Screenplay (Bo Buckley) and

Best Movie (Bo Buckley / Justin Soponis producers)

In the nominated categories, here were the winners:

Best Actor Winner – Boris Kodjoe for Resident Evil: Afterlife

Best Actress Winner – Mila Jovovich for Resident Evil: Afterlife

Best One-Liner Winner – “Time to nut up or shut up” – Zombieland

Best Director Winner – George A. Romero for Survival of the Dead

All in all I’d say we were in pretty good company this year. In hindsight we probably should have submitted for this year when there are really no good zombie movies coming out, then we’d have probably swept the awards. Stupid, stupid, stupid!

Congrats to our winners and to those who were nominated. You were winners in our books.
