People of Earth – the fun side of alien abduction

by Filmguy on September 25, 2017

Just finished watching the first two seasons of the TBS show People of Earth.

It’s a light, fun show about an alien abduction support group and each episode is all too short.  The show is perfect as an apéritif between heavier fare, but comes with the danger of serious bing watching.  Drink it up! Try to watch just one episode at a time and you’ll find it ridiculously hard to do.

The show chugged along with “ok” ratings in season one and gained steam in season two.  TBS has since picked it up for a third season.

This little show is a gem and deserves an audience.  Give it a try and pass the word along if you like it.  Let’s see if we can get a season four and five.

Cooties – Kid Zombies & Carnarge

by Filmguy on September 17, 2017

Love horror comedies and have a teacher in the family?  Then COOTIES starring Rainn Wilson, Elijah Wood, and Alison Pill may be your chicken nugget.

Shamble on over to your Amazon Prime account and you’re likely to find a wallet-friendly rental cost. I got mine for 99 cents–your mileage may vary.  Heck, a little search action could even find you a freebie somewheres.  And who does’t love a freebie?

Strange Stuff… the way it should be

by Barnabus Bogwater on June 23, 2012

On Sunday, June 24 at 10pm Strange Stuff will screen their debut film, Death of the Dead, the way it was intended, in a bar full of rowdy, drunk people. Expect the frequent hoot and holler, obnoxious laughs and people yelling at the screen. THAT is Strange Stuff.

When we embarked on this journey to make Strange Stuff movies we didn’t want to make thought-provoking, high brow cinema. We want people to grab some buddies, a few cold ones and maybe even a hit from the bong (although our attorney said that is illegal behavior and we cannot condone illegal behavior, so we have to say “Don’t smoke pot, kids”). Once you are completely liquored up and having a good time, that is the moment when a Strange Stuff movie becomes the best thing you’ve ever seen.

So tomorrow will be the first test of a true Strange Stuff screening. The suds will flow and the atmosphere will be light. And hopefully Death of the Dead gets its fair share of laughs along with the taunts. But in the end everyone will buy another round and say it was a good time. And if you decide you must see a Strange Stuff movie we encourage you, no, we damn near demand that you get yourself your favorite alcoholic beverage, grab some friends who enjoy the ridiculous as much as you do, and have a good time. That is what we want. That is Strange Stuff.
